About Me

My photo
I started stitching a few years ago thanks to a very dear friend. She has encouraged and taught me so much. I am the Mum of three great kids who I love dearly. I love to stitch in my spare time and even though I am a newbie I enjoy it very much.

Gone Trekking....

Well I am finally off on my big trip, I don't think there will be any time for stitching on this one but hey I have thrown some in my suitcase just in case. What could be nicer than sitting around the fire at Lake Crackenback stitching.

Oh yeah the 50km we are walking and the ten peaks we are climbing over the two days might put a bit of pressure on the stitching time.

Well its all for a very good cause. I am very happy to say I have raised over $1000 for Childhood Cancer Support so far and the group is doing awesome with the tally over $26000.

Hoping to be back stitching soon. xox

Hopefully I will have some great pics just like these when I get back.

A little retail therapy

I took my Mum for a visit to Rainbow Patchwork in Lismore to select the border fabrics for the quilt I am making her. I think she has made a great choice. I will hopefully get it all together very soon.

Whilst away in the Mountains I found this very cute pattern for a baby quilt I will be starting shortly.

These are some of the fabrics I have chosen to begin the project.  Brights are not normally on my favourite list of things to do, but some of these are just gorgeous.

Blue Mountains Scenery

I did manage to put my stitching down for long enough to enjoy some of the spectacular scenery in the Mountains. I am not fond of heights but did pay a visit to Scenic World. I was not at all impressed with the glass floor in the skyway. I didn't manage to take the camera out for that one.

Then we rode the scenic railway down. The steepest railway in the world.....

and caught the cableway back up

As I am still in training for the big trek, it seemed like a really good idea to do The Giant Stairway. The stairway takes you to one of the three sisters and then into the valley below.

You are able to walk to the ledge of the sister on the left and then into the valley below

There are over 900 stairs to go down to the bottom, they are very steep...... and you realise just how much on the way back up.

But the scenery is spectacular and well worth the walk. Just take your time if you ever decide to give it a go. Highly recommend it for any avid walker.

Pressies....

Whilst in the Blue Mountains I happen to celebrate a birthday. Unfortunately it was one of those with a  big "0" on the end. I am the sort of person who hates birthdays and definately hates being in the lime light. So I was very embarrassed to be so very spoilt by so many people on this occasion. Thankyou so much to you all I am sure you know who you are. It was a very special birthday and I enjoyed it very much.

Here are some pictures of the gorgeous gifts I recieved.

Some absolutely gorgeous fabrics and patterns for me to stitch.

A beautifully handstitched journal.

These are scissors I was given and engraved on them is.....

When life throws you scraps.....

make a quilt!

I also received jewellery, flowers, chocolates, perfume & handbags. What more could a girl ask for.

Thankyou

More Blue Mountains Retreat

The room looked beautiful when we arrived so much of the tutors gorgeous projects
on display to admire and see up close. I could easily have taken it all home with me.

These cute little birds were our table decorations and this cute little one flew home with me after the retreat.

I selected this table runner of Gail Pan's to attempt from my collection of patterns.

After a lesson from Gail on how to use a bias binding maker & a how to on needleturn applique I was finally underway.

This is my progress so far, I still need to stitch down the bird and add the flower centres.  Then to do it all again on the other end. But coming together nicely so far.

I will show you the rest of my patterns & kits soon. Happy stitching xox

Blue Mountains Quilt Retreat

Yippee off to the Blue Mountains I headed on Friday 12/10/12. Little did I know when I left the sunny Gold Coast Airport that I would get stuck on the highway because of snow. I had a great flight and short train ride where I was picked up by some lovely stitching friends for our journey up the mountains. Unfortunately we didnt quite make it all the way. We were stopped on the highway and told maybe for a few hours but a quick lunch and a friendly local soon pointed us in the right direction.

Friday night saw us meeting up with the rest of our good friends who had been stuck on the other side of Katoomba and attending the cocktail party at The Stitching Post Shop. I did do just a little bit off shopping & will show off some of it later.

Saturday we all headed up to the retreat to meet our lovely designers and tutors for the weekend. Gail Pan, Lisa Cantlay & Carol Roberts

What a beautiful setting for a retreat the spectacular Blue Mountains.

More to follow soon. Happy Stitching xox
